Harrison Thomas is a director and performance maker hailing from Stratford, ON. Founding Artistic Director of Toronto’s Desiderata Theatre Co, his previous works as a director have included the North American premieres of Changeling: a Grand Guignol for Murderous Times (NNN, NOW Magazine) and Lot and his God (NNNN, NOW Magazine). Often drawing from the English literary canon, his productions emphasize explorations of language, gender and meta-theatricality, often drawing attention to the tenuous line between performer and audience. In addition to his theatrical practice, Harrison is a long time contributor to The Clinic, an art film collective working with Toronto Pop musician, Tallan MD. In 2016, he was honored to be accepted to the National Theatre School of Canada's directing program, where he be finished his studies in summer of 2018. He recently took part in the Acrobatics of the Heart Grotowski intensive, studying under Stephen Wangh and other specialists in Grotowski's performance and training methodology. As a performer, his ritual performance explorations have been a fixture of Montreal’s Alone Together music/art show’s. These works emphasize the body as the site of both trauma and forgiveness, in relationship to love, the earth and society.
